Are the wonder stories associated
with our Gods the reason behind our acceptance and surrender towards them or
there is something more to it. Can we accept our Gods without the miracle
stories that are associated with them.
For eg. Suppose Child Krishna
never held up the Govardhan Parvat, or Killed the Serpent Kalia, Lord Hanuman
Never actually flew with the mountain in his hand, likewise there are these wonder stories
associated with Lord Ram ..Lord shiva ,
Goddess Durga, Goddess Parvati.. every God we can think of
Lets for the time being suppose
these were all just folklores and eliminate these wonder stories from their
lives. Would we still recognize them as our Gods? Let’s ponder upon their lives
without these miracles. For example let’s talk about Krishna- Krishna stole
butter from neighborhood, danced with girls, Krishna who stole clothes of girl
bathing in the river, eloped with his wife, provoked Arjuna for war when he
could have stopped it, once ran away from the battlefield, only to be named as
Rannchhod. Krishna’s clan Yadav’s were fighting among themselves and were
getting miserable day by day.
That doesn’t fit into the
description of a God isn’t it!! All the above is so human, and the description
of the Gods that we are accustomed to is that of a Perfectionist and Flawless
being; but these stories too are as true as those wonder stories if not more.
So are these miracle stories the
reason that convinces us to accept and believe in our Gods. These stories tell
something that is incomprehensible, largely undoable for humans. They depict a
larger than life image, powers beyond the dimensions of human capacity. These
stories lead us to accept that they were special, superior, they have powers
and only they have those powers. Now that we conclude that they are much
superior to us we also need to have a story for their birth and death. They
cannot be born and die like us mortals, that doesn’t go well with the
description of God, we have created and accepted, so we agree that they ascend
and descend for a purpose.
Sure enough there has to be a
purpose and there is a purpose for everyone born on this earth, the difference is
they were the people who could find their purpose in life and endeavored to realize
it. The difference is they knew Life, they understood life while we just wander
around all our life heedlessly not knowing the real purpose. They are the accomplished
ones.
